Attendance Matters

Coming to school every day makes a real difference to a child’s life chances.  In order for children to have the best opportunity to learn, build their confidence socially and develop their Literacy and Numeracy Skills they need to be with us every day.

We will be launching a variety of competitions and incentives to encourage the children to come to school each day such as the CBBC visit, £20 shopping vouchers, reward’s for the classes with the highest attendance each week.

If your child is absent then we need you to call/text the school office on 0113 2482449, email, or Facebook Victoria Primary Academy LS9. It’s important that for us to fulfil our safeguarding duty and to know that your child is safe and secure. If you don’t call us we will initially send a text to the primary contact, then phone all the numbers we have on our system, finally if we haven’t heard from you we will come out to your family home to make contact and check that all is well.

If at any point you find you are starting to struggle to get your child to school please get in touch with our Parent Support Workers. Amie now works Tue, Wed and Friday and Jackie every day. They are here to offer you advice, and point you in the direction of support.

If your child’s attendance drops below 90% (that’s like having one day off, every two weeks) we will be contacting you and asking you to come to a meeting to discuss our attendance concerns. If your child’s attendance does not then improve and drops below 85% we will refer your family to the guidance and support team and ask for an Attendance Improvement Officer to work with your family.
